Losing Weight As You Get Older
I hear many middle-aged and older women complain that they eat nothing and still don’t lose weight. What is the reason for this? As we age, we tend to get more and more sedentary, and lost the muscle mass we had when we were younger. So if you are not twenty or thirty something years old, then to lost weight, you have to go buy some weights at Target or a sporting goods store. They don’t have to be huge, start with two or three pounds if you can lug this weight home from the store. You can work your way up to larger weights. You have to be careful about using weights that are too heavy because you don’t want to stress or injure your tendons and ligaments. You can choose to use smaller weights and do more repetitions.
You don’t want to spend the money on weights? Then go get two heavy books, about the same weight, and use those for weight training on your arms and upper body.
You can also buy the exercise bands. Click on this link to see how to use them, you can do lower and upper body exercises with them: http://www.shapefit.com/quick-workouts-elastic-bands.html.
With more muscle mass, your body burns more calories, even at rest. It is an easy way to begin, it only takes a few minutes, or more after you see how well it works.More muscle mass makes tasks like bringing in the groceries a little easier, or having to move something heavy in your house. Doing weight training has no down side!
