Turn Off The TV
Television food ads do more damage to your diet that you realize. Marketing companies that create ads used to rely on ad effectiveness by showing the ads to consumers and then asking them a series of questions about how the ad affected them. Now, with much more sophisticated technology, consumers are shown the ads while MRIs and EEGs are conducted so that brain activity can be monitored while test consumers watch the ad. Researcher are looking for certain areas of the brain light up with activity, which means the ad really gets to them and makes you WANT what they are selling. This new research into what consumers react to in ads is called NEUROMARKETING. Check it out on Wikipedia – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuromarketing. So you should know food ads now make you CRAVE the food, and I believe this has a carry over effect to other foods you like, making you crave those foods too. So TURN OFF THE TV, or at least record shows and fast forward through the commercials.
